Music history of the United States (1980s to the present) - The 1980s saw New Wave entering the year as the single biggest mainstream market, with heavy metal, punk rock and hardcore punk, and hip hop achieving increased crossover success. New Romantic - New Romantic was a New Wave music subgenre and fashion movement that occurred primarily in England during the early 1980s. Its genesis took place largely through clubs such as Billy's in Great Queen Street, London, England, which ran Bowie and Roxy Music nights in the post-punk aftermath, evolving into the highly successful and elitist Blitz Club, which featured Steve Strange as doorman and Boy George as cloakroom attendant.

Punkas - Punkas is a New Zealand based website dedicated to punk rock, New Wave, ska, hardcore and its related genres of music. It is the main site for the New Zealand scene, which in its understated clean cool attitude, and its untrammelled treatment of germane subject matter in general, has given it an important, unique place in the world of punk and new wave, following in the reputation of the culture of the country itself.

No Wave - No Wave was a short-lived but influential offshoot of punk rock centered in New York City during the late 1970s and early 1980s. The term No Wave was partly a satiric wordplay rejecting the commercial elements of the then-popular New Wave genre, and also a declaration of the music's experimental nature: No Wave music belonged to no fixed style or genre.
